Therapeutic-grade oils: used for centuries for medicinal purposesViews: 2563
Oct 29, 2008 1:17 pmTherapeutic-grade oils: used for centuries for medicinal purposes#

Mirdza Hayden
For centuries people have known about the therapeutic-of essential oils, but it has only been in the last two decades that scientists are looking at the molecular structure of therapeutic-grade oils so that we can understand their power better. We are now understanding how these oils can fight cancer, reduce inflammation, help us fight colds and the flu, improving our digestion, help us reduce depression and so much more.

Research on essential oils continues today. More and more people are realizing how much better these oils are than antibiotics and chemically-based meds. They have no side-effects, unlike their counterparts, and they truly heal our bodies and don't just mask the symptoms. I invite you to take the time to learn more about the medicinal power of therapeutic-grade essential oils.

These oils have made a huge difference in my life and that of my family. Using them have helped me in so many ways, so much more than migraine meds I was prescribed when I used to get migraines for about 10 years. We have also used them to help us fight any pain that we get in our shoulders, kneck or back. We use them when it's flu season and everyone else is getting sick around us. We use them when we get a cut or a bruise. We use them if we are feeling stressed. We use them if we feel cramps in our stomach or any stomach pain. We use them in so many ways.

These oils are amazing, but it's so important that you get oils that are therapeutic-grade quality. Unfortunately, most oils out on the market are just perfume-quality and these will do you more harm than good if you rub them on you or take them internally. Make sure the oils you purchase are therapeutic-grade oils, like those from Young Living.

Here is an 8-minute clip about these oils. It was made by a company called Young Living Essential Oils. I invite you to learn more about them and how them can help you in your every day life: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDaK9J1Q1jA.

I'd love to hear your comments after you watch it =) Take the time to learn more about them and see how they can change your life, as they have changed ours.

Mirdza Hayden
It's really amazing how much care Young Living puts in cultivating, distilling and bottling their oils to ensure they we get only therapeutic-grade quality. I want to share a two-minute video with you called "Young Living Essential Oils from Seed to Seal": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdIDEDNRIYM

Essential oils can be very therapeutic, but you have to ensure that these oils have not been adulterated in any way. Before you purchase any oil, research the company from which you purchase them and make sure that the process they use to cultivate, distill and bottle their oils will ensure that you get only thereapeutic-grade oils. Anything else can be detrimental to your health.

My granny believed in the efficacy of sesame oil (also called gingely oil and til oil) and brought us up all to believe in its beneficial qualities.

Sesame oil is extracted from sesame seeds and is used in cooking (especially for making pickles) in many parts of India. The oil is one of the ingredients in many rice-based food-items.

The oil is rich in Vitamin E and B and also contains many essential minerals.

Though some may find the aroma of sesame oil a bit strong, when it is used in cooking, it helps in reducing hypertension and cholesterol level. It is also a cure for stomach ailments and is an effective body coolant.

In many parts of India, sesame oil is used for massaging. In these parts, people usually apply the oil all over the body (including head) and remain with the oil on body for half to one hour before washing it off with powdered ‘shikakai’ (Acacia concinna) or with herbal shampoo and soap. ‘Sesame oil bath’ (as it is referred to) is given to infants and babies as well.

It is believed that this massage/bath relieves the body of tiredness, and also protects the skin from blemishes and harmful effects of UV rays. The oil is also used as a mouthwash in villages to treat toothache and other gum-related problems.

As one, who has used it in the traditional way, I can vouch for its rejuvenating credentials.

Feb 06, 2009 4:46 pmThe many uses of thereapeutic grade peppermint oil#

Mirdza Hayden

Whether you want to experience the cooling sensation of menthol on overworked muscles, enjoy an invigorating foot scrub, or soothe an upset stomach, peppermint essential oil can help! Here are a few quick and easy ways to incorporate peppermint into your daily routine:

~ Add a drop to herbal tea to help aid in digestion.

~ Massage several drops on the abdomen, place a drop on the tip of the tongue or wrists, or inhale to soothe minor stomach discomfort associated with travel (works great for my daughter who get motion sickness when we travel long distances in the car).

~ Combine with lavender essential oil for a soothing and invigorating body, neck, or foot massage.

Young Living's peppermint essential oil comes from the most potent plants around the globe—some is even grown on Young Living farms—and is tested to ensure proper levels of menthol and menthone are in every bottle.

But there's more to Young Living Therapeutic Grade™ peppermint than just finding the best plants. The secret is in expert harvesting practices. Peppermint is harvested when the field's overall appearance goes from light to dark green. The growers make sure the plant has just started to bloom before the peppermint is cut, and then water is carefully measured prior to distillation to ensure the most potent constituents are steam-extracted.

Peppermint essential oil is used a variety of popular Young Living products:

Digest + Cleanse™
Ortho Ease® Massage Oil
Breathe Again™ Essential Oil Roll-On
Deep Relief™ Essential Oil Roll-On
PanAway® essential oil blend

Mar 09, 2009 3:03 pmSave money as you use healing essential oils#

Mirdza Hayden

Well known as effective when used in massage therapy and meditation, essential oils also have a wide range of other powerful applications.

~ They can be extremely effective when used in First Aid treatment for burns, insect bites, cuts, bruises, and more.

~ Anti-bacterial properties make them highly effective for sanitizing, disinfecting, deodorizing and air purification as well.

~ Some essential oils make excellent toxin free cleaning agents for removal of grease, oil, carpet stains, crayon, etc.

~Powerful anti-oxidant properties in some essential oils make them amazingly effective in anti-aging, energy and health giving applications both alone and when combined with supplements.

~ And of course, nothing beats the power of essential oils in personal care products for skin, hair and personal hygiene. I tried a lower brand of products that also have natural essential oils, and it caused a rash on my husband... I learned my lesson. Nothing by therapeutic-grade oils in our home now.

Young Living oils can definitely help you live the healthiest life possible, in every aspect of your life (physically, mentally and emotionally), plus they can help you save money, something necessary to do nowadays.

Apr 02, 2009 9:46 pmHome-made air freshner recipe that does way more than freshen the air#

Mirdza Hayden

A good way of making our house smell real good, and creating a very relaxing atmosphere is by diffusing therapeutic grade essential oils. Here's an easy homemade recipe:

1. In a small spray bottle, add 5 drops of Purification oil blend and 10 drops of lemon or orange oil (from Young Living Essential Oils, since they are therapeutic-grade)

2. Fill the spray bottle with purified water

3. Spray in rooms, bathroom, kitchen or anywhere else you want a fresh scent, plus a relaxing atmosphere.

NOTE: "Lemon oil promotes clarity of thought and purpose with a fragrance that is invigorating, enhancing and warming" In addition, studies have shown that lemon oil "boosts immunity, induces relaxation and reduces depression" (EODR, p. 63)
Purificaton oil blend "cleanses and desinfects the air and neutralizes mildew, cigarrette smoke and disagreeable odors." (EODR p. 118)

Apr 22, 2009 1:01 pmDealing with migraines without the use of drugs#

Mirdza Hayden

I used to suffer from migraines all the time and thankfully I rarely get them now (last one I had about a year ago). Last weekend I got a horrible one, and as I analyzed it, I realized it was because of the processed food I ate on the camping trip: smores (high frustose corn syrup in the graham crackers, plus "normal" sugar from marshmallows and regular chocolate), hot dogs (even though they were the Oscar Meyer low-fat version), and processed turkey. It reminded me of an article I wrote a year ago. As I read through it again, I noticed that it was the same circumstances last time - I was on a camping trip and the food I ate, plus the cold weather, that made it worse. Here is the article for you to read, if you would like: http://ezinearticles.com/?Livi...Two-Years&id=1202924

What helped the headache subside on Sunday was the M-Grain that thankfully I still had around for times like this. M-Grain is a blend of therapeutic-grade oils made by Young Living (what a surprise, huh? - LOL). It contains Basil (Ocimum basilicum), marjoram (Origanum majorana), lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), peppermint (Mentha piperita), Roman chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile) and helichrysum (Helichrysum italicum). I personally hate drugs, as many of you do, and this oil blend really helps me. I just applied 5 drops to my neck and crown of my head, and I was finally able to lay down and a few minutes later could fall asleep. I woke up a few hours later, and my son gave me another 5 drops since I had a dull headache (not throbbing anymore) and I slept through the night. I was fine the next day. Great stuff to have around for times like this!! You can purchase it only online, and I do have an online store. Contact me about it, if you don't know a Young Living rep.

Mirdza Hayden

The following is an exerpt from "The Missing Link" transcript. To read the entire article, click here: http://www.health-essentials.info/science/aromatherapy/missing-link.html
------------------------------
How many of you have ever cut your finger? What happens? You bleed.

Why do you bleed?

(Audience: To cleanse.)

Exactly: to cleanse, and to kill the bacteria. You have to do that to start the process of regeneration of the tissue.

Okay, how many of you ladies have seen a leaf on one of your house plants torn or damaged? What comes out? It's a liquid, isn't it? It's called the resin by some; some call it the blood of the plant; some call it the life force of the plant. Whatever you call it, it's the same thing. It bleeds. It bleeds to cleanse the damaged part of the plant is, to kill the bacteria.

------------------
Essential oils are simply amazing to me! I don't fully understand how they work, but it's amazing to me that one drop of therapeutic-grade lavender oil can clean and desinfect a wound I have or that my kids have without the use of any man-made antibiotic cremes. Essential oils are truly the missing link in medicine.

May 14, 2009 9:13 pmre: Therapeutic-grade oils: What exactly are they?#

Mirdza Hayden

If you pick a leaf off a tree and tear the leaf, you will see a little liquid drip out of the vein that is the essential oil of the plant, it is the Immune System of the plant. These little drops of oil have powerful healing properties and they are very compatible with the human body.

How do we obtain essential oils? Essential plant oils are extracted from trees, roots, shrubs, leaves, flowers, needles and resins. In ancient times it was very difficult to harvest plants and distill oils. In some ancient cultures essential oils were so expensive they were traded on the market like gold and silver. Thanks to modern technology these healing oils are now available to us at a fraction of the cost that ancient cultures paid.

Therapeutic-grade oils have really made a tremendous difference in my life and the life of my family, and I'd like to invite you to check out my Vibrant Scents website to learn more about these oils and how they can affect your life in the most amazing way: http://HealthStar.VibrantScents.com

Mirdza Hayden

{Tip from the Abundant Health4U newsletter)

While traveling or playing outside during the hot summer months, it can be difficult to keep your body as cool as it needs to be. Several essential oils that are commonly used for their cooling effects include angelica, citrus oils, eucalyptus, lavender, melaleuca, mountain savory, peppermint, Roman chamomile, and spruce (Reference Guide for Essential Oils, pg. 388).

WHAT TO DO:
Diffuse these oils in a car, place a few drops in a small misting spray bottle filled with water to spray onto the skin (being careful not to spray close to people’s eyes), or create your own cooling wipes to use on the skin.

Jul 09, 2009 4:45 pmTreating asthma/allergies/sinus problems#

Mirdza Hayden

I got this story from April's website (http://www.younglivingessentialoils.org/) I hope it helps all that suffer from allergies, sinus problems or allergies.
------------------------------------------------
ALLERGIES / SINUS / ASTHMA
My Personal Story~ April Travis

I used to have all kinds of allergies and asthma and was on everything from Seldane, Sudafed, steroid inhalers that caused heart palpitations, dry eyes and mouth and even on a breathing machine (nebulizer) at one point. Now, with the help of these oils, my allergies are almost non-existent and I am continuing to work on it.

If you have never heard of Essential Oils here is a short explanation of what they are. Essential oils are the volatile liquids that are distilled from various parts of plants, including seeds, bark, leaves, stems, roots, flowers and fruit. They are highly concentrated and far more potent than dried herbs.

The essential oils of the plant and the human blood share several common properties: They fight infection, contain hormone-like compounds, and initiate regeneration. Working as the chemical defense mechanism of the plant, essential oils possess potent antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties. The molecules of essential oils are also relatively small, giving them the ability to easily penetrate the cells. When topically applied to the feet or elsewhere, essential oils can travel throughout the body in a matter of minutes.

Young Living is the firmly established leader in the Essential Oils Industry. It is the only company of it's kind that grows from seed, harvests in greenhouses, distills and packages to make sure that there are no pesticides or chemicals of any kind in the product so you are getting Grade A Pure Organic Essential Oils. If you look at other oils in health food stores, they are only perfume quality and not Therapeutic (medicine)...Tip: They must be Afnor / Iso approved oils)

Here's what I did: (NOTE: THIS HAS SAVED ME THOUSANDS OF $$ ON ALLERGY MEDICATIONS, ALLERGY SHOTS & IN THE PAST, MISSED TIME FROM WORK. NEEDLESS TO SAY, NO MORE SIDE EFFECTS FROM THOSE HORRIBLE DRUGS AND OVER THE COUNTER MEDS!)

Got a Young Living diffuser and diffused "Purification Oil" into a room with the door closed for 20 minutes a day while you are relaxing in the room. This is for the chronic cough. Any molds and allergy causing bacteria in the air cannot live in the presence of this oil.

Got "R. C." Oil and put 2-3 drops in my hands. Rub them together, cup over nose and inhale 3 times deep. Also put 2 drops on chest and throat. This is a blend of (4) different kinds of eucalyptus and other oils. This is incredible for breaking up mucus, in the head, the lungs and anywhere else it builds up. This is the one that stops me from wheezing and coughing and lets me breathe so much better.

You can also get "Peppermint". If you ever get stopped up and can't breathe thru your nose, you'll love this one. My husband puts 1 drop on his tongue and in then inhales it in. Then with the oil still on his fingers he rubs a little on the end of his nostrils and inhales again. He can breathe in 1 second after putting it on.

One more oil you should know about is "Lavender". Not only is it called Natures antihistamine, but it great for depression. It lifts me up in 3 seconds...When my nose won't stop dripping, it drys me up right away.

Something I really realized while yesterday driving home. I was able to roll my windows down while on the road and smell the wonderful smell of fresh cut grass. Something I was never able to do all my life with allergies. If I did this in the past, I'd sneeze probably 20 times in a row and then be a wreck for several hours.

Since using Young Living Products: cleansing, oiling, supplementing and eating a good diet over the last 4 years, something worked! I can honestly say I AM ALLERGY FREE...and in Texas, where there are trees, molds, dust, grasses, hay, etc.!!! I would have never believed it!

I try to eat as healthy as I can - no sugar, no white flour, no dairy, organic vegetables, hormone free chicken, little meat, no coffee or pop, no white bread, no processed foods, and also no chemicals in the household products or personal care products. I believe this has all helped.

Recently, 5/2002, Ive begun ingesting Eucalyptus Radiata and R. C. blend before bed and for the first time in my life, I am able to sleep with a cat on my bed and still breathe well; no wheezing or sneezing. WHAT A MIRACLE!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought Id never be able to have furry pets.

At this point in time, my Young Living monthly check pays for all of both Marks and my products, and we use everything from toothpaste to the RainSpa Shower head. We are saving $$$ on our grocery bills and medical bills by substituting healthy from Young Living for chemical laden items found at the grocery store; and it gets delivered to our door. What a wonderful blessing this has been for us!

UPDATE, 2/2003: We have now added a puppy to our family.

Since all allergies happen because of poor digestion and a weak immune system, I started by working on those body systems. Products I use for allergies, sinus & asthma:

Internally:
Cleansing Trio Kit
Vitagreen supplement
Sulfurzyme Powder (a must have) NOTE: Also available in capsule form.

Externally:
R.C. Oil Blend
Purification Oil Blend
Peppermint Oil
Lavender Oil

(From the Abundant Health Newsletter)

For centuries, peppermint has been used to soothe digestive difficulties, freshen breath, and to help with headaches. Recent research has also indicated that peppermint oil may be useful in combating the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)1, and may help protect the body from oxidative damage caused by exposure to radiation2.

Peppermint's minty fragrance is said to be purifying and stimulating to the mind.

I personally love to put a drop of therapeutic-grade peppermint into a tall glass of cold water, or bottle of water, and drink it. It's refreshing and gives me fresh breath. It's also wonderful for the teeth since it helps prevent tooth decay!! Learn more about the medicinal uses of peppermint oil by clicking on this link: http://www.answers.com/topic/peppermint
